Before
You Build . . .
How Do You Start
Your Building Program?
Most Church building,
renovation and/or expansion projects are birthed out of membership growth,
facility decay and/or the "bursting at the seams". All too often, the need
to build, renovate, or expand arises and the Program starts without
the proper planning and professional team selection. The burden then falls
on the Pastor who the congregation depends on to take them from conception
to completion
| A successful
Building Program begins with 3 important things:
Feasibility
Report
which identifies any
obstacles that would hinder the vision, as well as the method for overcoming
them.
Conceptual
Plan
is the expression of
the vision on paper, often as a master plan single line drawing.
Preliminary
Budget
which is probably the
most critical step in the process. |
The budget limits are
essential and should be established early in the process. If the architect's
design is in line with the Building Program budget, so will the contractor's
construction cost estimates be in line. The church will then experience success
with bank financing and the Church Building Project will be successfully
completed.
However, in order
to coordinate all these factors effectively, your church should retain the
services of a Project Consultant.
